Hono Kai is beach front, facing south with the Ma’alaea Bay right smack in front of you. It is an exquisite setting with a lovely pool, barbecue station, beautiful landscaping that is meticulously maintained—all of these beach front. The white sand beach is quiet and perfect for sunning, swimming, snorkeling, and just playing around. The honu (turtles) also like it here, you will likely see these ancient creatures bobbing in the surf and snoozing on the sand. You can walk Sugar Beach’s 2.5 miles of serenity all the way to Kihei—it is accessed at the end of the street through Haycraft Beach Park. Shopping, restaurants, the boat harbor and Maui Aquarium are about a half-mile jaunt to the west at Ma’alaea Village.
