Nice condo!

Best location, best view, best hotels!

This was our 2nd time renting this condo (the first in late 2016). We are 2 best friends, women in our 60s who have known each other more than 40 years, world travelers, who rent apartments, condos and homes worldwide rather than staying in hotels. We love the location and the amenities of this condo. We love being able to sit on the lanai or in the living room and see and hear the ocean. We walk the 2 mile white sand beach daily watching the sea turtles, the whales and the tide pools as we stroll. We love being on the end of the road with a small park next door, watching local families playing & having a beach day. The park closes early, and we never hear a sound...except for the local rooster – which we also love! The condo itself has everything needed to cook, whether an easy breakfast or an elaborate dinner. We cook at “home” every day and use the community BBQs downstairs. There's even a dishwasher! There are plenty of linens and beach towels. There are no beach supplies though (chairs, umbrella, cooler), and while that doesn’t bother us, other condos supply them, so we wonder why this one does not. Certainly not a deal breaker. We travel with our own snorkel gear, and you can pick some up at Walmart or ABC inexpensively. Having a coded door knob meant we didn’t have to worry about where to stash a key if we went swimming or walking. Now for the building to add electronic laundry facilities (the banks are the only place to buy a roll of quarters)! We had wonderful excursions for whale watching this trip and they were amazing (Maui Ocean Riders & Hawaii Ocean Rafting)! We really have no complaints, however the sofa and chairs do need a refresh and the 2nd bedroom mattress is in need of one as well. Overall, we give 2 thumbs up...way up...and look forward to our next stay in this amazing condo.

It was a beautiful, updated unit - that being said, I was very disappointed with location for the following reasons:

* The downstairs unit was being remodeled (electric saws and hammering) the first 3 days;
* The same day the remodeling stopped (Friday), large groups of people moved into the park directly adjacent of the unit and camped all weekend, partying all night (the lawn in the picture actually belongs to the park, so they were almost directly under our balcony) for the next 3 days (thru Sunday);
* There wasn't enough parking available in the parking lot and sometimes we had to park on the street;
* Homeless are living in their cars directly across the street from the condo parking lot where we had to park because it's the entrance to the park next door;
* Did not feel safe getting from car to unit late at night and sometimes even during the day as we were sometimes watched;
* The resort's swimming pool was freezing cold the entire time (obviously not heated);
* The beach area is quite small/narrow, especially at high tide;
* The beach itself was not good for swimming - had to watch for sharp rocks and there was a steep drop off close to the shore that had a strong undertow.

Overall, I Did not feel I got value for my money because of the location issues; however, the unit itself is very nice.

Easy and relaxing. The beach was fun, the ocean was calm and easy to jump into especially for a 4 and 7 year old. I highly recommend it for families.

We love this unit overlooking the shore and the local beach park. It's the perfect escape from the resorts and hotels in the best location to explore. We're 3 friends (50+) who have been enjoying B7 for 4 trips and we're already talking about when the next one will be!

After a long and tiring flight, it was such a sight for sore eyes to see a comfortable, inviting room filled with light and an ocean view when we opened the door. The whole unit was impeccably cleaned and well maintained. The unit description was accurate. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils, and cooking ware. It had an efficient dishwasher that was easy to use. The ocean view is just like in the picture. The unit also included two boogie boards, two beach chairs as well as a yoga mat. These came in handy as we visited a different beach every day.
The unit is centrally located. It is very close to the Maui Ocean Center and the harbor where we took a boat trip to the Molokini Crater. It seemed like all the baches were about 20 minutes away. The property manager was very professional and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this vacation unit to my friends and family. We look forward to returning.

Rosemary was able to move my family into this unit when an issue with the original unit arose. She responded quickly to the issue and we appreciated her attention to the problem. Worked out great and we were able to enjoy our vacation. Thanks Rosemary!

We had a good experience. The communication with Destination Maui was very good. The condo was exactly as it was in airb&b pictures. The condo was clean and in good condition.

This is our second time staying at Makani A Kai in the unit we stayed.
Loved the location- central to all other areas of the island we wanted to explore. The morning walks on the beach we’re a great way to start the day. Loved all the upgrades. It is a nice cozy, quiet resort area and was an ideal place to relax and recharge.
