Rental Cars

Unless you plan to never leave your resort area, you need to rent a car on Maui. Island features are spread out, and too big to explore without a car.

Taxis and Uber  are available on Maui but they can be expensive and hard to schedule. The bus system connects main towns and is affordable, but does not run at night.  Car rentals vary in price, where and when you book. Here are the main rental agencies operating on Maui:

If you have a tight budget
You can save a pile of cash if you don’t mind driving an older vehicle, check out Kihei Rent a Car. Their professional operation offers airport pickup and drop off.

If you have a luxury budget
There are also a host of specialty vehicles for rent. Ride in style in one of
Maui Roadster’s 1957 Porsche Speedster Convertible reproductions. Or maybe you want to cruise the road to Hana in a lifted Jeep.
