In December, you can witness Humpback Whales' migration that begins a 3,500-mile journey from freezing Alaskan waters to warm Hawaiian oceans. They travel virtually non-stop, covering distances at 3-7 miles/hour, and arrive in December to give birth to their not-so-tiny 12-foot calves. It is breathtaking to watch them breaching in the bay right in front of your resort!

Ma’alaea Kai is home to Hawaiian Sea Turtles hiding in quiet reefs; sunning on the sand or enjoying the surf, you may see them if you keep an eye out.
