Maui visitors felt the effects of the partial government shutdown in reduced National Park services over the past month. Haleakala National Park has now resumed regular visitor services. This includes Haleakala summit and the Kipahulu district near Hana.

The Whales are back to Maui Waters! The first Pacific Humpback Whale of the season was spotted earlier than usual. The Pacific Whale Foundation’s Ocean Explorer vessel reported spotting its first whale sighting of the season with assistance from the charter boat Maui Diamond on Oct. 8, 2018 at 8:08 a.m.

With an abundance of sunshine and natural resources, it is no wonder Maui is a leader in ecotourism and renewable energy.
