Planning a Trip to Maui 2022

This is the summer people are coming out of their COVID caves, and traveling like crazy. Tourism has rebounded on Maui. And, while you might find a few areas that require mask wearing, all COVID 19 requirements for entering Hawaii have been lifted. With more Americans traveling, its highly recommended you make reservations for your condo, rental car and even restaurants and activities, as far in advance as possible due to high demand. Maui is probably the most exotic place you could visit, without leaving the U.S.
Last minute summer travel booking
Haven’t booked your summer trip yet? If you are thinking about coming to Maui soon, condo and hotel occupancy are very high already. But don’t despair, you might still be lounging on a Maui beach sooner than you think. We’ve got some tips for last minute vacation shoppers, for beautiful Maui beachfront vacation condos. Change how you are searching. You can try a traditional search on destinationmauivacations.com, putting in the dates you will be on Maui. However, for last minute travel, a better strategy is to find units you are interested by size and amenities without putting in dates, and then look at their calendars. Each unit shows occupied and available days without having to put in a credit card or email address. There may be openings that closely match your dates. Look at flights the same time as condos. It takes a little talent, but you can search for summer flights that work for you, and on a different browser window look for condo availability during that same time frame. Many airlines let you put a 24 hour hold on your reservation (sometimes there is a nominal fee). If you are here for more than a week, we may be able to split your stay over more than one unit. Snacks for on the plane. In general, foods that are cooked, canned, frozen or commercially processed and/or packaged are allowed to be transported to Hawaii, as long as the product is arriving from within the U.S. However, there are restrictions on plants, fruits and vegetables coming in. For example, you can bring an apple in your bag, but not a pineapple, most citrus fruits or coconut. Check the State of Hawaii plant industry website for more info, especially if you are traveling from outside the U.S.
Checked Suitcase Packing Tips
Limit shoes and socks. You will mainly be wearing flip flops or sandals. You should also bring one pair of good walking shoes and one pair of evening wear shoes. Clothing. For the most part, you will want warm weather clothes- shorts and t-shirts or short sleeve shirts, plus a skirt or sundress for ladies. However, many people don’t realize the need for warm layers on Maui. The top of the volcano can drop below 40 degrees (or even snow!), requiring long pants, closed shoes and socks, a long sleeve sweatshirt and light, weather-proof jacket. A sweatshirt is also a great idea for morning boat charters or helicopter rides. Bring one light-weight sweater for cooler evenings or being indoors in air conditioning. Consider an extra bag. A light day hike bag, or smaller cross body purse for ladies, is ideal for Maui’s active outdoor lifestyle. Plus, you do not want to leave a purse behind in the car when sightseeing.
